The Redstone Mercury rocket wasn't powerful enough to put its capsule into orbit. So the Americans used a Mercury Atlas to launch their first astronaut into space around the earth on February 20, 1962. It was John Glenn. A flight of 4 hours and 55 minutes with 3 orbits.

Compared to Redstone Mercury and Russian Vostok:

Pending the launch of Vega VV16, in Kourou, maybe tomorrow June 29th, here is Vega VV09 which put in orbit the observation satellite Sentinel 2B, on March 7th 2017.

You're building up an impressive collection, and they all look very well done!

A collection on astronautics cannot be complete without presenting the grandmother of all current rockets, the formidable but terrifying A4 of the Von Braun team, better known as the terror weapon of the Third Reich under the name of V2.
You can see here the first working prototype (in black and white) and a camouflaged operational model.
The rockets are in paper, the vehicles are in 3D printing (from Shapeway). Everything is in 1/220.
