Thank you;

At the end of 1944, the Germans tested a winged version of the V2, the A4b. The goal was to gain in range.

Thank you group b and happy new year!

In 1945, the Americans got their hands on a large number of V2s (including spare parts and 124 technicians, including Von Braun) and rushed to test them at their White Sands base in New Mexico.
Here is the n°3 launched on May 10, 1946, with various scientific experiments decorated with a pin up.

The most powerful American rocket of the time had a thrust of 800 kg, the V2 of 25 tons. One can understand the interest aroused.

The Americans are continuing their trials with the captured V2s.
Here is the 1/220 paper model of the US experimental vehicle, fired at White Sands in 1949.
It was a V2 with a second stage Wac Corporal, called Bumper Wac.
It reached an altitude of 393 kilometers.

The V2s fired in the USA for testing did not have their explosive charges, which freed up space and weight for scientific experiments.
This V2, fired on May 20, 1952 at White Sands, no59 carried bottles (red and black at the top) for the sampling of air at high altitude.
It is also used as an advertising display!

"Buy Bonds" in 1952? I didn't think they sold them that long.

The Russians, who also seized everything they could about the V2s (scientists, equipment, plans, copies, production tools, etc...) built their own copy, the R1 or SS1 Scunner, from October 1947.

A paper model of Mark Cable Design.

Very nice study of the V-2 and his developments. I hope you build his Arab variant. Regards, Tony.
