Another representation of the Atlas A SM-65A.
This is one of the last ones and the decoration is slightly different.
Moreover, the model (by Mark Cable, available on Ecardmodels.com) is more detailed (and more difficult at this scale as it was designed for 1/96).

To the Atlas A succeeds the Atlas B which is the final version of test with its three engines.
10 launches from July 1958, 6 successes, 4 failures.
Scissors and planes model.

The Atlas 3 marks a turning point in the career of the launcher because the 3 engines of the first stage are replaced by a single engine with 2 nozzles, very powerful, the RD-180; of Russian origin providing 390 tons of thrust at takeoff!
Scissors and planes model redecorated.

A small astronomical observatory for a change.
The Observatory of Tiana in Spain, Barcelona region, organizes activities of astronomical research and popularization. In addition, on weekends it operates as an Information Point of the Serralada Marina Park.
The Tiana Observatory was built in 2002 thanks to the collaboration of the Astronomy Group of Tiana with the Municipality of Tiana and the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Equipped with a 43 cm telescope, it offers astronomical research activities, mainly in the field of planetary astronomy (systematic study of Jupiter and Mars) and asteroids, without neglecting topics such as the study of the sun and the moon. Once a month, it organizes popularization events open to the public, such as observations, conferences and activities for children. In addition, schools can carry out visits, workshops or research work in the facilities.

I didn't know Subaru made telescopes so I had to look it up-ahh,so it's named after Pleiades cluster, not car company lol.

Very nice model.Turns out I've heard about that telescope except it was on one of safety meetings when we discussed fire hazards.

Thanks to all.
I continue the series with a very simplified model of a radio telescope of 10 meters in diameter, the ASTE (Atacama submillimeter telescope experiment), located in Chile at 4860 meters altitude.
It studies radio waves smaller than a millimeter, from 270 to 500 GHz.
Model here:

One of the 12-meter antennas of the ALMA radio telescope ("Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Antenna Array", which includes 66 millimeter antennas (7 and 12 meters in diameter) operating in interferometry.

Here is now the representation, still at 1/220 scale, of a famous historical astronomical instrument.
It is the radio telescope of the Bell telephone laboratory in Homdel, New Jersey (Horn Antenna).
Built in 1959 to receive signals from the first American satellites Echo and Telstar, it will make the major discovery of the "cosmic microwave background radiation", residual radiation emitted by the Universe when it was in a very hot and dense phase, shortly after the Big Bang.
Paper model of John Jogerst, available in the download section.
