If I build one, I'm not bothering with an interior. A lot of work in 1/48th (if that is the scale I settle on) and I'd rather concentrate on making the outside look good.

So here's a question.... This is one of the Skylab CMs in the NASM collection. On the Skylab CMs, did they just have the Kapton tape on the lower section of the CM, with everything above it in silver?
A lot of colors for a "simple" CM..... |

The remains of the tape got removed and cleaned post flight. The capsule reentered at a slower speed, (and with less weight), than the moon ships. The angle of attack was different. It scorched that area pretty bad so they cleaned it up for display, (also had some chute issues due to heating and a hydro-fuel leak on all Skylab missions). Apollo 7 was a heavily modified block one and had similar issues as did Apollo/Soyuz. Hope this helps. |
