1:144 scale Soviet MIR

Another AXM paper model making this my 4th
I began this build on December 28th 2020
This was so far, my favourite and most fun build as I picked up on a few different skills that I'll need when I tackle the four EDU Craft Conversion "kits" I have ready and waiting .....

In these photos I have yet to permanently "dock" each module but I'll be doing that very soon............. really .......

Although I downloaded the FREE templates from AXM I'd like to acknowledge the original designer of the "kit" John Jogerst, who I believe is a member of this Forum.

THANK YOU John Jogerst

Cool

Nice model. I remember Mir. It was a station that managed to be in orbit despite having problems later in its life. It ended up in the South Pacific in the Roaring Forties, where the seas are rough.

Taco Bell would offer free tacos to everyone if they caught Mir in the South Pacific.

Great build! I remember when John gave this model to AXM, along with his Skylab (which I did some test building for. The Skylab model was altered and made even more complicated by a member here and posted in the downloads).

Sadly, John passed away in April of 2019. I’m happy to still see his models being enjoyed. From the pictures it looked like one of his own builds. That made me immensely happy since I still think of him often and miss the emails full of model parts to try out.

Same here, Joseph. I too have had a lot of contact with John, especially in the beginning of my adventures in paper modeling. It's sad he's gone. But it's good his models still are being built, indeed.

Hi,
Yes, John Jogerst allowed me to host his Space Station models on my old website. It was 2010 when he sent me all the files, so we decided to include them into the Historical Space Stations category.
Then years later I revamped my website but kept that old page with his original work. As a tribute of his passing, that page is still active. His work is still alive.

It’s great to see his models being built once again. He is still with us.

Very clean build!

Thanks for sharing the results.

Any tips or observations regarding the build of the kit?

Thanks!

How about a 'tribute' or Archive page for John's models?

Alan
