Gemini?

.
Has anyone have a recommendation for a Gemini rocket?

Preferably in 1/48th scale.

I recommend Leo's Titan

All his stuff is very good (and he's a member here on the forum)

That looks perfect!

I don't know if my skills are up to it, but we'll see.

Thanks PhantomCruiser!

Not a problem!

Just take it slow and steady, and you'll have a very nice representation of a Gemini-Titan

Be sure to post pictures!

While I’ve not built Leo’s Gemini-Titan, I will say generally that his models are well designed and construction is straightforward. Study his diagrams and you should have few difficulties.

Years (and years…) ago, I re-sized one of Delta 7 Studios’ Gemini capsules to 1/48th and then scratchbuilt the Titan. That was long before Leo’s excellent model came along.

Good luck!

That looks like a beautiful job dhanners. Before I started this thread, when I decided to do a Gemini/Titan II, I also printed out a 1/48th capsule from Delta 7. But the booster didn't look like it would translate well to 1/48, hence the question.

Since I already had the capsule printed, I decided last night I would assemble it this weekend, as I can't print out Leo's model until Monday. Here's the progress so far:

Looks like you’re off to a great start!

At the risk of sounding like a dreaded rivet-counter, two things you may want to add, if you haven’t already:

— At launch, the capsule’s horizon sensor (that thingie on the port side of the nose forward of the crew cabin) was covered with a protective fairing. Leo includes the part, so you could, in theory, use his.

— Also at launch, the Gemini’s nose had a white cover to protect the antennas and wiring while the rocket sat on the pad and through the first few minutes of flight.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks again dhanners for the encouragement. I plan to use both with Leo's build. One of the models Delta 7 published has those details, but I wanted to build Gus Grissom's "Molly Brown". (Although, as far I can tell there isn't any visible details that illustrate it as such.) Anyway, this has been a good couple of days build for me; I expect Leo's to take me some time.

Grissom and Young’s GT-3 had a tan-colored band at the very top of the Titan. I’ve no idea why it was that color.
