Need Beta Builder for 1/12 Scale Northrop HL-10
Good Evening to All,
Is anyone interested in beta-building a 1/12 scale HL-10? If so, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send the PDF file. Steve Austin |

That's pretty cool! I don't have time to beta build it unfortunately. :( Since it seems you like the old lifting body aircraft, is thee any chance you'd be interested in designing an X-38 model? The museum I work at recently got the X-38 from NASA. I would love to add a model of it to the mini museum.

Hello Willy,
I will give the X-38 a shot...Give me a couple of weeks to see if I can make something identifiable as the X-38. X-38 is more a derivative of the X-24 and should be interesting. I always thought the "leading edge" body design of this craft would have provided better aerodynamics and control than previous lifting bodies. Will you be able to build the X-38 model? I can design things, but my assembly skills are reminiscent of a 5 year old on a sugar high (perhaps not even that good). |

Good Morning to All,
JAGolden and Sidewinder have graciously volunteered to build the HL-10, and I have sent them the file. Once I receive all of their improvements and make the changes, I'll send the file over to Jon Leslie's FANTASTIC Lower Hudson Valley Challenger Museum site for free download. My many thanks to Joe and Josh for volunteering. |

Steve - you might take a look at the X-37B. Not a lifting body, more of a Shuttle-like planform. Boeing product for USAF scheduled for launch spring 2010 as a re-usable unmanned (at this time) vehicle. Recent article here: SPACE.com -- Air Force's Secretive Space Plane Nears Maiden Voyage

Well Steve, I will try to build just about anything. As a bonus for you, I can get you detailed reference shots of the X-38 if you'd like :D:D:D:D

Willy,
Several reference shots would be much appreciated.. There are a few around the internet, but not too many. The lifting bodies have such organic designs that it's difficult to get the curves right without good references. |
