Here's an updated shuttle template I have made this ages ago but never found time to try it out. Hope that someone will find it useful:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...-Photoreal.pdf The idea was to make it look photorealistic and add some more details such as plastic windows. The gray window areas should be cut out adding a layer of plastic behind and glueing a duplicate window with a 'view' to it. Also a part with Endeavour flag on it is to be inserted on the bottom of the main frame (under the belly surface) to improve the overall rigidity. Other than that, follow the original assembly instructions and improvise. Regards, Arvydas |

Indeed, like Thorsten said, WOW! That looks awesome. I'd like to try this one in 1/96 for the general rocket garden. Great work, Arvydas!

As someone who has slogged through the Fortezza Orbiter (it is a comprehensive model but NOT an easy build) I can attest that yeah, that is a beautiful bit of work. Looks great!
Almost makes me want to build another one. Almost. |

Love the detail. I was in the middle of skinning my Fortezza model, and now will restart it with the new textures. Thanks. What of the landing gear and payload doors?

I was planning on doing STS-88 in-orbit configuration with Unity module in the PB therefore there was no need for the Landing gear and I decided to figure out what to do with the PB doors later on. The plan was to make the radiator somewhat more realistic using aluminium foil or something similar. That is the reason why the PB door template was never completed, sorry..

New Endeavour Skin
WOW, Arvydas!
That is a stunning surface rendering! Really nice. I am VERY SLOWLY building the Marscenter/Fortezza Atlantis orbiter in 1:72 scale, but it would certainly be great fun to try this lovely skin for the Endeavour. I have downloaded it just now, of course. Thank you so much! All the best from Stockholm, Bengt |

New Endeavour Skin
Hi again, Arvydas,
I have just realized one important thing, and obviously, you have too; nothing on the real orbiter (or any airplane, for that matter) is as white as PAPER. I have, for quite some time now, thought about experimenting on printing out models on paper that is bone white, slightly beige or light grey from the start, to avoid the bright white paper beaming through. A thing which is especially obvious under strong photo lighting, strong sunny daylight, or flash. You are already there with this new rendition! Great job. I am seriously considering building the Endeavour instead of the Atlantis... but that means at least nine new laserprinted A3 size sheets from the print shop, and A LOT of fine scalpel cutting, backside scoring and shaping, all over again. However, it might be worth the effort. At least, I have to print ONE sheet of the fuselage, just to check it out... Thanks again! Bengt in Stockholm PS. I will still have to use the landing gear and wells from the Betexa Raketoplán Atlantis 1:72 scale model (as planned), but I will then have to darken them somehow, to fit the rest, with the slightly darker skin. Plus, of course, Thorsten's smashing new 'upgraded' flight deck interior, that goes without saying! |
