Continuing nice work on your model! Nice photos, too, but who picked that blue?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi PJ.... Superb model and it does look better painted than left as bare card. It's a pitty you painted the copper oil pipes though. They looked great on the previous photographs. Personally I would have masked them before painting and left them as bare copper, just as they would be on the real engine.

Best Regards,

Archangel1, do you mean that awful blue-green colour? There was a trend of painting the fast-speed engines in green. The exact look depended on the train depots, as they usually painted almost whole engine, or only smokebox and cab. And on these photos you can see an exhibit - which is painted in really dreadful way.
I'm painting my model just like it was painted in the 50s - Black, red and white.

Fozzy, on the real engine pipes are also painted black, as far as I remember, there's almost no unpainted part on all polish engines :]

I don't know what to say. How do people do this?

OK PJ Thank you for correcting me on that. My only experience of Polish Engines is from photographs and video. I do notice that most locomotives in Eastern Europe are more heavily painted than locomotives in England.

Congratulations on this beautiful engine, Piotr.

What kind of spray do you use for your model? Is it just one, or several? I can see the model looks sharp and clean, and that you don't leave ugly spots. How do you do that?

Very nice, and I'm looking forward for more pictures.

I'm using a standard acrylic spray - black matt - for cars. I'm painting several times, always leaving a very thin layer of paint. The interval between each painting is around 5-7 minutes. That makes it very clean - on the boiler you can see (well, technically not you, but me ) small drops of paint - effect of too thick layer.

Hello again,
I decided, I'll show some pictures - it's very hard to take them with my poor camera and clouds in the sky. So pictures are sharply unclear As I have holidays now, building will be much faster - a lot of free time and I'm not an out-going person.
Seems, it's been a long time since my last post, so this is how steam-engine looks now.

Firsty, foot boards are on their places:

I also finished brakes and leaf springs, but they are almost invisible.
Secondly, I started building elements of valve gear:

That's how it looks like from the rear:

And, traditionally, pictures of general view - on smoke box there's a air pump - I'll try to take more pictures of it when the weather gets better.

As always - any comments, suggestions and questions are welcomed

PJ

That is just the most wonderful model PJ. Very beautiful indeed and a superbly clean build as well.

Best Regards,
