Got one of those and been wanting to see a build. That looks great, but still intimidating. That floor, sir, is insane...in a good way.

more to come
i have a complete build log of photos, I'll try and post them as I get time.
here is the frame being assembled, i built it solid and made the decision to "paint" all the black elements of the model, so i did not use all the little strips that represent the edges of the frame, but rather smoothed the edges and painted them the "bolt heads" are hand cut from cardboard, at this scale they are pretty easy the frame is being assembled on temporary axles of brass tubing |

the model
here is the model and the gluing up and cutting out of the frames, i found some very thick card stock that seemed to give the right thickness... (although in the end I was convinced that the frames were a little thinner than they should have been, and i had to "adjust" other parts of the build to accomodate that)

frame members
i laminated the side pieces, to get the right thickness i had to sand down both sides a little before gluing,
then cut them out, and sanded the edges smooth. i used some putty to smooth the edges and then sanded it down again to get a smoother look that just the paper afforded this is where i would have had a different result if i used the narrow edging strips provided in the model |
