Burghead

My next building is the warehouse which is situated in Clavie Court. It is on a railway siding behind the engine shed. I hope to backdate it. I have drawn up the plans which I attached along with other photographs. The plans are basic at the moment but I will alter them on Photoshop. The windows and doors will be cut out and I will build up the layers.

Under construction
Syllingar ex Scillonian II
Crane ship Woodstock 1 converted from Kranschute Hartmutt Riedeman
Fairway Dredger
Emilliana Torini
All have been upscaled to 1/150

Burghead

I have not done any details on the back of the buildings as you will not be able to see it when place on the model railway. They will form the background to the harbour.

Burghead

Here are a few photographs showing where I am up to so far. I have also posted some photographs on Burghead in the Ships and Watercraft section of Model Builds. I dont know how to classify the model, so I have done two separate sections. Is it a harbour with a model railway or model railway with a harbour?
I have placed the buildings loose on the layout so I can do any adjustments and to make sure the fit in. The roads are printed on A4 size canvas sheets which is used to print photographs on to make them look like paintings. It gives a nice texture look and is very flexible. And is hard to tear. I bought a pack to experiment with. It would also do for sails on ships as it is flexible and does not tear like paper.
The buildings still need finishing off. I have not put any chimney pots, gutters or drainpipes on them yet

I have almost finished building Burghead. Here are some photographs of the railway part. I will show some photographs of the ships and harbour in the ships and watercraft section.

The detail, colors, and weathering all add so much to the realism. Excellent work!

Burghead is featured in the November 2014 issue of Railway Modeller (available in the US at Barnes & Noble).
