Burghead

I am building a N Gauge model railway based on Burghead in Scotland. I have just finished some of the quay side buildings. Although the railway ceased many years ago I have decided to reinstate it and run it in the late sixties and early seventies. I have designed my own buildings from old photographs and built them from card. I use Google earth/ street view to help me plan it. You can view them on it for comparison. The buildings have been backdated from old photographs from the Canmore website. When I have finished the quayside buildings the railway buildings will be next. I have downloaded the Emiliana Torrini coaster and have upscaled it to 1/150 which is near enough for N Gauge. I have also downloaded the Hartmut Riedemann Kranschute , the has been upscaled and converted to represent the crane ship Woodstock 1 which I found a photograph of it at Burghead on the internet.

Burghead

I hope to do some of the terrain but as the base boards will be about 2ft wide I wont be able to do a lot. The idea is to build an model railway for exhibitions. It will be about 16 ft long by 2ft wide on four boards with folding legs. I hope to model part of the harbour with ships.I will build the old station, and the engine depot. If you look up The Highland Railway Society on the internet and follow the link to Am Baille you can find digital images of the station and loco depot. I used them to make the buildings. I used an old Ordnance survey map for the track layout and to get a rough idea of the building sizes. Here are some more photographs.

Very nice! Continue with the pictures!

I like the appearance of the buildings - they have a certain "artistic charm/feel".

Interesting work!
I also build dioramas, from this period.
I look forward to the sequel.
