And an open-cabin articulated steam locomotive from the 1860's. Found a host of useful blueprints in Couche's 1868 book, with a many high quality scans available here - Index of /~bersano/francais-french/Couche
A photo of the locomotive can be found here (only 2 or 3 photos were ever made). what was fascinating about it is that it used a special valve gear that powered every wheel, even the back ones (not easy considering the engine was 'split' in the middle, made so to better handle curves).
