Hey, Papago Park! Was there last year, looked up, and saw a bald eagle flying overhead.

When I first noticed this picture, it did not register, until middle of the night, that before the NG (next generation) series was started the 737 body was shipped from Wichita, Ks to Renton, Wa with the forward and aft body separated on two rail cars. The split was in the constant section about the center of the wing join area. Final assembly including body join took place in Renton. I do not remember the paint job, probably after flight to Boeing Field. It has been too many years since I worked on the 737. There was a story that one day the people laying carpet on the interior noticed the left and right sides did not match. further checking found that the body was not joined straight. After some serious head scratching, it was determined the fix was to offset the rudder/fin. I never asked which aircraft or airline it was, but you know how rumors go. Bob Neill |
