Amtrak Superliners

Howdy folks (again)

Other than my first love (aviation) I am also quite a train nerd (just never realy built any trains) and was wondering if there were any Amtrak Superliner cars out there available to build?

(I have been on the Empire Builder twice, the Coast Starlight once, the California Zephry once and every time been in the sleeper car in a roomette.)

So, any Superliners out there? :D (Even if you could just find one car I can modify it to the diner, coach, sleeper, obversation, etc if I really have to.)

Thanks again if anyone can find some.

All the best folks,

-RunwayOneSixRight (Matthew)

I might have to start designing some train stuff. My regular day job involves transporting crews for BNSF, Union Pacific, and Amtrak around the state to and from their trains. I usually end up mere feet from locomotives and cars.

Since I am already your vehicle beta-builder I could also take up being your rail car beta-builder if you choose to make trains.

Matthew;
I also am a Passenger Rail fan; I would like to see more Amtrak rolling stock models. It would be good to see some architectural models of those great Santa Fe rail stations along the BNSF route of the Southwest Chief. Think of the dioramas possible.
I did find this site, which has lots of passenger rail cars:

???????? ???????????? ??????? ? ?..

Have fun!

I focus more on hauling the BNSF crews around (I just started working a yard shift at the BNSF Mobest yard here in Phoenix. Get to sit around and work on models, while staring at locomotives, and their turntable).

I just recolored a General Electric P42DC Genesis from the original file. You can get the model from the link below.

The livery I recolored it into is "Phase Vb". Also, the text that is in white looks bunched up and messed up. I can assure you that it is not, when zoomed in it looks just right.

Maybe if Aaron were to design a 1:87 Amtrak Superliners he could do the observation car and maybe the diner then I could modify those for the the sleeper and coach cars?

I don't get to see the Amtrak stuff anymore (They hired a dedicated Amtrak driver). I am getting an itching to do some freight cars though. Maybe some autoracks, or container cars (which are called "wells")

I already have some autorack cars and intermodal container cars. They were designed by Inky for me a while back (he also made a centerbeam.)

If you really need some Superliner pictures I could go to Kingstreet station down in Seattle and take some pictures, Amtrak always rolls through. Some really nice cars that would be nice to see are these from the Amtrak Cascades. You woudn't see these in Arizona, mostly on the Northwest Coast but the 2nd car back is the coolest.

This would be a fun one to design, it carries huge transformers. I think its called a depressed center flat car.

I just LOVE trains, I'm jealous how close you get to trains. LOL.

I have almost all the freight cars from here and am planning on designing the end caps on the 50 foot flat car to make a fuselage carrier. I haven't started on it though.

Those are some really nice pics Matthew. Love the Cascades paint scheme!

I love them, I've only been on the Cascades once and I loved it.

Besides being an aviation geek I love trains too.

Here are some teaser shots of the intermodal container car Inky kindly designed for me. The original was in a TTX yellow scheme but I redrew the entire model and then recolored them into BNSF and CSX.

And what the TTX yellow looks like:

.

What is cool is that these fit perfectly into the wells. I own both sets and am still in the process of buiding them all.
