Dear Xacto:
I assume you are looking for scale paper models and not Pl**tic or 1:1 scale. First did you look at cleaver models? I know where there are some on a siding in Niagara falls NY you might have a problem taking them over the bridge.
Good Luck,
Miles

I've seen some back when I was doing my nursing home train display, but cannot find them now or even a couple weeks ago when this question was posted last. Unless you are looking for an open one from the sixties or earlier, they wouldn't be that hard to do one up. I think I'd actually start with a modern passenger car to have the rounded roof body shape.

I work for BNSF and get out to the auto facility regularly, so I should be able to get some pics if anybody wants to design one.

I'm talking about the modern ones. Not the older.

How detailed of a model are you looking to do?

Well, not too overly detailed like every single rivet or screw but not under-detailed (if that makes sense)...

I know some folks are more detail-oriented than others. If I were to do the one from the photograph, I would probably use lamination. Probably print out the model onto a properly-shaped blank (probably a passenger car to capture the rounded roof), then cut out the recessed area between the ladder and the yellow framework piece, then put yellow card behind to give it depth. Is there a certain livery that you are looking for? I'm not a designer, but I do some modifications to models. This almost looks like it could fall into the scope of my abilities, though I am sure that just about anyone on the forum here could do a better job than I could.

If you need pics, I'll try and get some next time one comes through the yard.

Just so you know, autoracks actually have a flat top with rounded corners. It was after dark when the vehicle train pulled out today, so I couldn't get any pics.
