...and here is a first alpha build of the HH660. I printed out on paper and that is in itself a challenge. Not as stiff as card (obviously). I needed to get some sense of how much to add to the rounded top of the high hood and I had added too much. Got to narrow it down a bit. Still looks half decent.

Hi Sygrod and other paper modelers,

Great models, Sygrod !
I'm working on a similar paper model I designed.
It's a GP9 in scale 0. Almost finished the body alpha build in grey. Designed the skins for CN (4520) and Erie Lackawanna in full render graphics.
It's a hell of a job as you can't get away with leaving the fiddly bits out on that scale. Plus you need a card stock structure as a frame.
The problem is that I have to design the large parts in sizes that fit a standard A4 printer. Which turned out to be quite a challenge for an 0 scale model.
The biggest challenge however is still awaiting: the trucks.
Will post some pictures when the body built is ready (and I've worked out how to upload photos to this site.)
The idea is to donate the model as a free download to this site in return for all the items I've downloaded through the years. Seemed fair.
Hope I'll be able to come up with a finished product around x-mas.

Sid

Hi, Sid.
As a matter of interest, I played around with a larger model of a high nose GP9 a number of years ago. I will enthusiastically send you what I made then, as I have no further plans for it. It might give you some ideas.

Hi Sygrod,

thanks for your reply. Yes, I'd be really interested to see your work re the high nose GP. Very generous. Thank you. Will probably be of great help regarding the difficult bits yet to come. At the moment I'm toying with the idea to build the cab interior as well while I'm at it. Should be possible and would make it all a bit more lively.

How do we go about this exchange of drawings or info email wise ? Through the open forum or can I forward my personal email address somewhere in a personal message box or something? I'm not very experienced in this forum site stuff I'm afraid.

Sid

Wow, these are _VERY_ cool.
I am afraid my tired old eyes will not be up to the task.
You have done a great kindness to all Paper Builders !

I'm still redrawing the EMD GP38-2 but I am under a huge pile of redraws and test builds so its going to take a while...

I do think that my basic design has merit and can be ported to HO scale, but then neat eye candy like grab irons, engine and generator and oher interesting stuff can be added.

Howdy!

No time to build, so unfortunately no build pics to share.

I have had time to look this over again (and again), and I must say I am impressed every time with the details you've included. I particularly like your treatment of the fans and Blomberg sideframes.
