OK, so the frikkin paint bottle of the color I was gonna use to paint the substitute rods was painted shut and I. COULD. NOT. GET. IT. OPEN.

So...I used the Kevins' advice and delaminated the color portion of the paper part, wrapped it around the plastic rod and "soaked" it with Tamiya Extra Thin. Seems to have worked out OK in the end. Not perfect, but OK.

Anyway here is a picture that shows that and the axle mounting pieces.

Broke a bunch of blades cutting these out for some reason...

I find that tapping around the edge of a stick paint bottle lid will loosen it enough to turn...have opened many bottle like and only had one failure when I managed to screw off the actual top of the bottle I.e. the threaded glass bit...

I have unstuck paint bottles by inverting them in a dish of thinners overnight or even just leaving some thinners around the edge of the lid depending on the design of the bottle. It should loosen things up enough to open it.
Hope that works for you.

I beat the living crap out of it, tried wrapping rubber bands around it, pried under the lip of the cap, tried to dig some of the dried paint out between bottle and cap, and mangled it with adjustable pliers all to no avail. Easier just to buy a new bottle. Unfortunately it was the Oily Black color under the Polly S label that Testors discontinued for some stupid reason...

I had it forever anyway. The price on the top was $2.49. Current price is around $4 if I'm not mistaken.

Probably wouldn't have matched well enough anyway...

Thanks for the input though, I do appreciate it.

Progress has been slow lately. besides being distracted by other obligations, the suspension system on this car is not well represented by drawings or photographs. I am trying to figure things out as I go by building a bunch of sub assemblies then puzzling out how they could/would fit together into something that makes sense. Anyway here are two pictures of some of my very small progress.

Don't get the second pic Greg. Looks like a closeup of a parts drawer. Help?
