This is better than any locomotive I've ever seen made by a major manufacturer. Spectacular!

Steam header build was creative and came out well. So did the rest of the model for that matter!
ya know, that would look grand as a powered model in a scale/gauge combination of something like O16.5

Becky, southwestrofests – thanx. It was my first "weathered" steam locomotive.

Enrico – grazie mille, voglio fare il tuo cannone come seguente modello militare :D

That is a beautiful locomotive, Marcin. I know it required a lot of work, but I am happy that you did it! Thank you for sharing your excellent photographs.

BTW, how did you control warpage using a wash style weathering? Any time I tried it I just ended up with a soggy model.

Becky:
1) I paint model with light gray enamel – as a base/primer;
2) Then I paint main color (brush/airbrush) using pactra or other acrylic and pactra transparent cote as top layer.
3) I use enamel washes (AK interactive) or just very thinned vallejo acrylics.
4) I control washes with white spirit (enamels)/ butyl alcohol (vallejo). Pactra is white spirit/alcohol proof

Sometimes when you carefully paint paper with airbrush (using acrylics) putting veeeeeery thin layers, you can avoid warpage, but it's difficult. So, the best and most simple method is enamel primer
