Cargo for rolling stock
My toddlers are continuing to enjoy the Lionel O gauge train they got for Christmas. So I wanted to work on adding some cargo to the rollingstock that came with the set. Searches online and in the forum is coming up with models for the cars but not so much for the pipes, logs, boxes, spoils of wire, coal for the hoppers etc.
Do you have any suggestions? |

I Googled "Crates paper models" and came up with lots of hits. You can start here:

There are lots of shipping container models if you do a google search. It seems like Marklin or Wordsworth had cable spools

I've been toying on the side with some designs. I'm thinking that I will publish a series to the forums once I get more available. As I'm designing, it occurs to me that there is such a wide variety of things that could be modeled, it doesn't make sense to include everything in one PDF. Rather I think I'll have individual pages with multiples of various shipping products.
Here's a few prototypes I've built so far. More are coming once I'm happy with the resolution. Any requests? |

Try davesgame.net\catalog-lumber-log-hay-bales.htm. When there, click on the DrivethruRPG splash to order and get particulars on dimensions. Dave Graffam also has a printing of different bales.

Bales, cable drums, brickloads, etc.
Dave Graffam's "cargo" pages are also available at ecardmodels. Type in LUMBER in the store search box.
Cut & Paste models has bales, cable drums, brickloads, etc. At eCardmodels, type BALES in the store search box.

The shipping containers would be fun too. They could fill them and then put them on a flat car.

As for containers, there are quite a few purchasable kits out there as has been suggested. I decided not to build any since, 1) I don't run an intermodal railroad 2) I couldn't find 6 side photos of containers to replicate (although I admit I did locate several 3D models that were tempting. I'll let you guys know when it gets approved! Thanks for the support! Scot |
