Sorry to hear that about Robert Nava. His original site is where I first ran across your work Becky. He did produce some great models.

Elliott, I must stress that I don't KNOW anything about Robert's situation. I am merely surmising a tiff with Disney as I have been unable to reach any of his URLs for a month or so. I can find them on Google search, but as soon as I click on any of them I get a Site unreachable flag, and AVG gives a Malware URL warning, suggesting a full virus check.

Anyone else care to check him out?

Shoot ... I've just succeeded in raising Disney experience and Nava designs. I guess whatever is going on is on my end. So I'm off to have a look around his sites whilst I can.

Panic over ... it's all still there ... in fact much, much more than I remember from last visit.

I am able to go to Disney Experience site using this link
The Disney Experience
and have access to the model downloads. No malware or virus alerts are given.

Yep, it's all back up and working for me too Doug. I've refreshed my bookmarks, so I'll see how it goes for a bit, but I think I may be seriously considering ditching the AVG/Avast anyi-virus apps. I've been getting a lot of unexplained crashes lately. I've crashed out to Screen freeze twice whilst I've been in this thread, and clicking between tabs has developed a long delay of up to 30 sec lately. Have MS been sneakin' in updates again?

The Disney Experience

No problems. Bob and Disney are getting along fine. New post just today on his "news" blog.

Moving right along.

Lots to do, and I'll be happy when I can pull the masts back and tighten the ropes! Because of being scaled down, I knew I wouldn't be able to roll all of the masts and yards using 65lb card. So most of those are plain 20lb paper. But they have inserts too. The upper main, upper fore and all of the bowsprit and mizzen mast have tapered bamboo skewers inside. The arms on the other hand are rolled and glued around steel since I just couldn't get either bamboo or bass to trim down thin enough without breaking. So heavy gauge floral wire to the rescue!

I couldn't decide whether I wanted the sails or not. So I tried making furled cloth sails cut from an old cotton/poly blend shirt. But they aren't working too good either. So at least for now I'm moving ahead without sails, which isn't all bad considering the ship's eventual home.

Dear Becky:
Try Coffee filters for the sails
Enjoy,
Miles

I had to take a break from paper in favor of steel!

The detail of these things is lost on the camera!

Twenty bucks for the pair on Ebay was a deal too good to pass up!
