Canon Paper train model D51 498
HI All
after the near finish of the Yamaha R1M and the destroying of the model by my little one, I have finally decided what my new model build is going to be, A train, but to be more exact the one of the trains that can only be found on the Japanese part of the Canon paper craft website. 蒸気機関車 D51 498 - 機関車 - 乗物 - ペーパークラフト - Canon Creative Park So I have now printed the 19 Pages out I have now gotten over the R1M nightmare death. Nice one. I have this, but it looks too complicated for me!
So I will follow your build instead!

Well, this model doesn't seem to be very difficult, but needs lot of work. The scale is... well.. uncommon
Good luck man

I am looking forward to this build. I built this much about a year ago. I didn't intend to stop construction, I just had to clean up my work bench one day and never got back to it.
Anyhow the bit I did was a lot of fun and the fit was very good. My wife's grand father used to drive one of these in Japan. In fact he used to drive the emperor around in one, which is why I started making this. Robert |

Robert - are you carrying on from where you left off, or starting all from the beginning again?

Now that the I have started the build of the train, I have now decided to build 2 at the same time, One for my dad and one for myself.
My dad's model has been printed with a ink jet printer. The one that I am building for myself I have printed the artworks out on a colour laser printer that I have access to at work, Now before I go down the road of printing all my models in future at work I am going to see if or how well the link stays stuck to the paper. I have seen posts in the past that builders have had issues with the laser printers that print in colour or even black, but lets see, I have already picked up that black and dark grey close together do not always bond well. I'll definitely be watching this to see your opinion on ink vs laser. I have a stack of rockets that I printed at work on what I thought was a pretty nice laser, but due to dissatisfaction with the print detail and toner flaking at bends, I may be reprinting them all on my Canon.
The train looks very cool. One of these days I may have to take it on for my dad.
