Impressive work Tim, it seems to me you mix paper and plastic modelling techniques to arrive at this great result. You must be a good Starbucks customer, to save all these coffee stirrers .

Cheers,
Erik

Started on the main loco body:

I've also added some extra detail to the radiator

Then added the skins to the structure

Any hatches have been given an extra layer of card behind to help with definition

Also sorted out the cut sugar cane load for the wagon

The brown stuff is coconut fibre. This gets used in all sorts of product. I bought two bundles from a garden centre.

Tim

The loco is magnificent (if one can use such a grandiloquent term for such a tiny engine). And the cut coconut fiber looks to be a good stand in for sugar cane.

I have never tried to build one, but have always been fascinated by the cane railways of Hawai'i, and also once contemplated building a model of an imaginary narrow-gauge copra, cocoa, and general merchandise railway (the Rabaul, Pomio, and Gasmata) in New Britain.
