SZK Malcolm Moore locomotive 1:25 scale

Gents

I was fortunate to receive a free copy of this newly published model by SZK. The model was donated by the author Adam Koch

Strona główna

The model comes with six pages of parts and a further six of diagrams and instructions.

The Australian locomotive was designed during WW2 to transport goods using portable sections of track. However, it was never used for this purpose and many ended up being used on sugar cane plantations and other industrial uses.

My quest for more knowledge on the subject has unearthed the following sources:

Time for the build itself.

The model itself is very well detailed and has a good level of weathering and detailing.

There is also great scope for adding extra detail

A lot of the extra detail is not much more than minor tweaks and a few bolt heads

Luckily the original loco is really quite simple

Once ready she was given a coat of matt black and lightly dry-brushed with white. Washes will be added at a later stage

I like these little "critter" locomotives. This is building up quite nicely.

How can we mere mortals purchase this model? I work in 1/24 scale and would love one to build.

Outstanding work, so far, Tim!

I like these little narrow gauge industrial/agricultural/mining/logging railways.

That's a good start Tim. I wonder if you paint the chassis, if it has printed details on it, these will all disappear. No doubt you have considered this beforehand but I'm certainly curious.

Cheers,
Erik

Erik, you are right any printed detail is lost, when painted over.

Hopefully, this should be overcome with all the extra rivets and bolt heads I am adding on.
