I don't know much about British trains, other than that I like them! This is a really cool model!

There are still one or two running. They make a unique sound, you can hear miles away.

Tim
The older ones have a "clacker sound" and sounds like they're about to go "BOOM"... but the throttle up sound is "AWESOME" On special days they run through a place near here at Toton sidings.. Nice :D Lucky ME

Was this your first matchstick model Peter? How did you get started on matchstick models? Did you build the Deltic from plans? How long did it take you to build it? Any more questions?

Not sure if this is a genuine run of questions But anyway, the Deltic wasn't the first matchstick model but the first LOCO one... I'd started making the mm's just to have a go at a different media to work with as apposed to plastic etc.. There wasn't any plans only my drawings and true measurements from the real LOCO... It took approx two weeks to complete... anymore answers ?

Sorry Peter. The questions were genuine - all but the last. This is something that's fascinated me since I was a child. Will follow up with a PM later. Sorry about the delayed response - been reinstalling Windows.

Elliot... Thanks for clearing that up because the last part did seem a wee bit ummmm Thanks for the PM. The matchsticks i used and always use are ones that haven't been dipped so NO heads to cut off, but before they were available i used to buy SAFETY matches and press the dipped ends off {not burnt} so you get a full stick to use If you can't get any ready to use match craft sticks where you are, if you PM me your address i will gladly send you a bag full :D Working with them is a nice and calm past time - only real patience required is the glue drying time :( but avoid SUPERGLUE because it doesn't seem to sand down as well as normal PVA or WOOD ADHESIVE. The picture attached for you is of a GYPSY CARAVAN, unlike the DELTIC - this WAS a KIT with it's own TEMPLATES, sorry but i can't remember how many sticks i used making this one, but quite alot {my wife had a hand making this one with me - i bought it for something for us to make together for our first anniversary}.
