Christmas locomotive by Julius Perdana

Dear fellow modelers,

the weeks before Christmas 2018 we had an event going on at the german forum Die Kartonmodellbauer . Subject was to build Christmas related paper models and to get them finished before December 21. Resonance was amazing, we got lots of models finished and we had fun!

My contribution was the "Christmas Train" by Julius Perdana of Latest Paper Model . The name "train" may be misleading, because it is a 2-10-0 freight engine of decapod configuration without any waggons behind it. Building was without any hitch, the result looks quite attractive and certainly colourful!

Julius encourages builders to alter some features to the personal liking of everyone, so I added a walkway along the boiler, a big and bright headlight and last but not least some more realistic drivers superficially similar to the Walschaert gear configuration. Here it shows that Julius is more at home with airplanes, but those are just some very minor criticisms.
The background of the pictures is made from paper napkins that were available in the shops during the weeks before Christmas. Not too ugly...

Cheers, Martin

Beautiful job. I built that a few years ago for my wife and she was very pleased. That one is a crowd pleaser, the colors make it pop while still carrying that macho steam engine mystic.

Thank you all! This model was my first foray into railway models, but probably not the last.

Thank you both. Still, I am presently working on a model of the Renault Alpine A443 car which won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1978. As this is a competition, I publish the building report exclusively at Renault Alpine A443, Mega Graphic, 1:24 - Wettbewerbsbauberichte 2019 - Die Kartonmodellbauer
Just drop by!

Not too ugly? Dang, it’s spectacular! I have that one saved somewhere but never wanted to attempt it because it looked so intricate!
