Baggage Cart (after John Allen)
Found an article by John Allen on how to make a baggage cart; used the dimensions to make one from paper. HO scale.

That works! Paper can be quite handy for things that size, especially with getting representation of the wood deck and the lettering on the side rails. Brings to mind how much paper was employed in railroad modeling back in the day.
Hmm, somewhere in a book or magazine was a tale of a structure model on the G&D where someone had built it for John Allen and it had a chimney which was eternally changing its height via being built to slide up and down.

A splendid baggage cart - I may try and make something similar for the L&Y Train I am making (L & Y Goods Train - Millimodels.) as I want to make a small diorama with it when finished.
Is there a link on the Internet for the reference or was it from book/magazine?

Hi, Don! Chatted with a friend during last Friday night's IPMS/Orange County meeting, who was a college student in Santa Barbara back then and also ran trains on the Gorre & Daphetid. Bruce Openshaw says he remembers your name -- were you stationed at Fort Ord at that time? Bruce recalls John Allen often had operating sessions with Fort Ord personnel. He also has memories of using an odd device John built as a "momentum throttle". Does that sound familiar? David T. Okamura |
