Test build - EMD-F7B locomotive - O scale

You have likely already seen Erik Zwaan's excellent build report of the new F7A locomotive design:
F7A Santa Fe Diesel Engine (O-scale)

I will be doing a test build of the secondary locomotive, the F7B. It's part of the horsepower, but without the characteristic nose. This is also a brand-new design by Cor van Haasteren.

I have printed the PDF on 180-grams paper, and used 1mm greyboard for strengthening of the internal parts.

One minor (?) issue I can spot at the moment, although this is more for the designer than the builder - that's not an F7B. It's an F3B, based on the style of the roof where the dynamic braking vents are. If it were an F7B, there would be a fan in that location, the same way there is on the F7A model.

Good luck with your build Marco! I have used some of your experiences in my F7A build up so far and hope you can use some of my findings. I'm back from my holidays and have started building again in the mean time .

Regards,
Erik

Thank you! Some more progress here: I am building the interior of the engine, although you will not see much of it through the portholes. A few small issues spotted, reported and resolved, but the main assembly fits fine.

Here is the rest of the body, before I get into the wheel assemblies:

Looking good Marco. I notice that you built de rear access door in "valley fold" position, as the arrows at the part indicate so. However, for the F7A test-build, the instruction drawings imply the door should be built "mountain fold", if you know what I mean, and I built it as such. Perhaps for your F7B build a similar contradiction exists?

Cheers,
Erik

Yes, and I had a few issues building the part. I suspect that the "mountain fold" variety is the correct one.

The wheel assemblies. I quite like the design of the brakes.
