American Steam Locomotives
Do any members know of publishers offering American steam loco kits for sale or as free downloads. I am looking for late model loco's (1920 to 1950)
I know kookliks was doing a Union Pacific 4000 series Big Boy some years ago but it was never finished. Regards Owen |

Micromodels did a couple, the PRR T1 is in the wrong livery, red instead of dark green. The Niagara is OK but both the rear tender ladders are the same hand, just need to cut into two and reassemble. Both are close to 1/200 scale, one is 1/202 and the other 1/205 but I can't remember which way round!

If you are wanting to grab easy models and are willing to do some extra work on them, the Kaukapedia trains are a great place to start.
http://www.kaukapedia.com/index.php?...mer-Lokomotive I did some of them back in 2014, Nursing Home Display Sept/Oct The Yoshitsune from West Japan Railway builds nice and can be modified to look more like American Steam, Wild Wild West Japan Railway

If you look on the world of Micromodels site there are some lower resolution images of the original cards. They can give you an idea of what the models look like. I think it is still possible to get images on CDs of the Micromodels from Lester Harrison for a reasonable price.

The only modern steam locos I know of for download are on the Japanese version of Canon's Creative Park site. https://creativepark.canon/jp/catego...087/index.html They have the C57 pacific and the D51 mikado.
They're Japanese style, but fun to build. There's also a black GG-1 which you can get with English instructions here: https://creativepark.canon/en/conten...703/index.html But I'm with you. I'd love to see some USRA designs and a Lima superpower Berkshire. |
