An incredible level of realism and very tidy construction. Railway wagons are under-represented vs locomotives but this really makes a case for them as projects, especially with the interior and the lighting to show it off. You've inspired me to finish my Alpine coach and maybe think about designing some British carriages - we had Pullmans of our own!

Hello Gary, Vermin_King, ennder, Siwi and Becky, thank you for your kind words!
This will not be the very last of this thread yet as I'm currently preparing a stretch of tracks and there will be some pictures of the entire train (up so far) in due time. But first the tracks and I've just completed cutting out 38 sleepers pasted on 2mm thick cardboard, quite a good exercise for the fingers! Cheers, Erik |

Just in time for St Nicholas and Santa Claus: the printed version of the Santa Fé sleeper wil be available in about two weeks; the print-your-own files are available now. Please go to my website, Homepage, for more information, or send a pm.

I just downloaded the model and feel like a kid in a candy store (what do I look at first). 20 pages of parts and 6 pages of instructions; plus a very interesting information page (which is going to lead to my purchasing another model). This will be my first project for 2021. My heartfelt thanks to all that had a hand in this project!

You're welcome, Missileer. The build took me along several side steps, which I had never thought of when starting the model back in April and I'm happy to have played a small part in the entire process. A result worth waiting for I hope.
Good luck with your build, enjoy the ride and let your mind be carried away to the fifties... Cheers, Erik |

Tracks - Work In Progress
It's been a while and my mind is currently not really in a modeling mood but I have made a bit of progress on the tracks for the sleeper.
The underground consists of a piece of floor board and the basic ballast bed is made out of a stretch of soft board, with the sides tapered by using construction kit. This is a type of thick glue, very useful for this purpose and I often use it as a filler. On top, the track template and then the cut-out sleepers (a lot of work....). Next will be applying glue all over and to sprinkle sand on top, to form the scaled down ballast bed, and to apply patches of grass. I have been using this recipe for the A4 Pacific and EMD F7A tracks previously, and is a simple way to make (realistic - I hope) tracks. Cheers, Erik |
