Maybe because the color scheme of the original was not documented. The replica's color scheme is an informed guess based on known color schemes of contemporary locomotives.

It is a shame that neither of the original locomotives was preserved.

Parts 55-61

The boxes above the cylinders are comprised of parts 55-59. No issues with fit. These guys are rather sturdy since the basic box underneath is mostly laser cut parts.

Part 60 is the drive wheel fender assemblies. No issue. Finally have some blue to go with the gold and all that black and red.

Part 61 is the back section of the boiler. Not a big fan of the petals for the curved end piece.

As you can see, I assembled all the boiler framework sections up front. Figured I might as well.

Is this model close to the train used on the Wild Wild West TV show?

Oops. I didn't realize that the Inyo had been a stand-in for the Jupiter for a while

Interesting. I’m definitely a fan of the red pinstripes on the blue fenders. As for the petals on the boiler, I kind of like the way they look, but I can see where a conic section could have been used instead.

Part 62

The boiler framework has been wrapped and assembled. The laser parts are all slightly undersized. Assembly is exactly like many an aircraft fuselage, full of butt glued sections.
