Hello Ruben,
Have been lurking for some time on this thread.
A hell-of-a-job! but already good results.
I think you should not go experimenting with different programs halfway this project. First finish it one way and from there, when the 'basicis' are okay, you can start some 'playing'....

Can you give me an idea about how much translating there is to do. Maybe.... I am Dutch, from Holland, that is.

Greetings
Ponytail

And when you think there is nothing else to say about the Ford Tri-motor.....
There comes more trivia!!!!

Quick question:
How many rivets does a Ford Tri-motor have?

According to the following photo, 2.000.000 (two million)
Re-colouring the Ford Trimotor by Peter Zorn-57-rivets.jpg
The text on the right side reads:
Quote:
Tribute to the flying personnel of SCADTA when completing
an important number of kilometers, or accomplishing a
special work.

With good sense of humor, mechanic Josef Bühl receives
a prize for applying 2.000.000 rivets in a Ford Trimotor,
that was piloted by Cpt. Willy Leverman, after landing
at Medellin's airstrip.

Ironically, Levermann died of a heart stroke when landing
an AIDA's DC-3 in this same airport in the year 1954. The
DC-3 stopped -intact- at the end of the strip, while
Levermann was already lifeless.
Now, that can be misleading.

Legend has it that the Douglas DC-3 / C-47 needed 500.000 rivets.
And the Ford Tri was smaller, simpler, and it is evident that it had
a lot less rivets.

Most probably, the photo above was taken to celebrate
the mechanic's 2.000.000 rivets along all his time of service
with SCADTA through the years.

However, it's true that rivets are a characteristic part of the
Ford Tri-motor's surface.

So, we need rivets.

Of course, they are very simplified to follow the original
model's spirit. The rivets are not realistic, and do not follow
exactly the same pattern of the real aircraft. But they are
rather a representation and simplification of the original.
Just like the rest of the model is.
Probably they will be lost (or not) depending on the printer,
paper and settings. But hopefully they will add a bit to the
model without disturbing its spirit.

That's the spirit! Good job - L

What paper and printer you used?
Hi Ruben I have A Canon IX 4000 (A3) Printer, using original cartridges,
Printed from Adobe Reader, no scaling, printer set to high quality and matt-photopaper ( makes a lot of difference)
the paper is 170 grs Letraset double sided matt card, I get it from my local art-supplies store.

Question: I have printed a sheet with the outherskin on Metallic paper, it looks just great, but then I saw the original aircraft was white, what shall I do?

Billy,
If you are printing it on Red River paper it needs to be black and
white line drawing. If you want the color of Peters Livery you
must use regular card stock....Ron

Ruben's artwork is just fine, the skin parts are pretty much black & white, it's just a question of sticking to the original ,or show off with metallic, I tend to stick to the original, but it shure looks good in metallic

The cockpit, almost a shame to close up the interiour, but we know it's there..
Funny, but working on it today I found out that it has still those little flaws that you get in a handdrawn model, nothing serious, but some times it needs a little trimming like the cabin roof and the inside of the pilotseats

Looking back through the partition door from the cockpit into the cabin, what a neat view. - L.
