Egyptian MiG-21 question
I was supposed to redo the Ye-7/PF/FL/PFS/PFM this week-end but I wasn't in the right mood for it. Since I started some lazy recolors (ie bare metal planes), I have a question.
Would the wings of a 1967 MiG-21FL (or more probably an early PFM with the old canopy) with a green bordered white stripe on the rear fuselage also have ID stripes on the wings? Would it look like the wing at the top of this pic or like the one at the bottom? The other recolor is a VPAF MiG-21PFL. These alpha 3 versions still owe a lot to Shifu65's PFM (front fuselage, MiG-21UM center fuselage modified in the exact same way and general colour scheme)

I think so. After a little searching I found this picture with a bare metal Egyptian MiG-21F-13 from either '67 or '57 with identification stripes like yours on the wing and on the back fuselage. Not an -FL or PFM with older canopy like yours but I'd think they wouldn't change it all of a sudden...
Nice-looking new fishbeds by the way!

Yes, that was my reasoning : if pre-6 day war MiG-21F-13 had them, the PF/FL/PFM from the same era had them too. I only have a profile, no top view, of said FL (or early PFM) and it shows the fuselage stripe.
/adding these profiles to my collection

Looking at the colour art in the MiG-21 vs Mirage III book from Osprey Publishing, another possibility for egyptian FLs during the 6 Day War is white wingtips with a thin inner green (or black) border. I'll go with this.
Edit: And I just found this which confirms the stripes at the wingtips (though the so-called F-13 and FL profiles use Bis side-views)... and Tom Cooper's comments re: this decal sheet.
