Not to step on any toes here (I seem to be doing that lately) but I can send you my 26' Whaleboat, once it's finished.

Lightbulb

Maybe you could design some steel toecaps and make them a free download here for those with delicate, easily stepped-upon toes...? :D

I'd appreciate that -- is it in 1/200th? -- and you certainly wouldn't be stepping on my toes.

1/250, but I can scale up and tweak it (not that much difference in scale) since it's vector formatted. I'll post a WIP for the whole project and drop you a line when it's ready. Won't be too long, I shouldn't think.

Hi All,

I got the bug to build one up from the DN kit down load but wasn't confident enough in my skills with card modeling yet so I did it with styrene. It came out okay for a first effort with that sort of thing and made me want to get into card modeling a whole lot more.

That's the old Lindberg kit, right? I found a review of it online that had photos of all the sprues and parts. I'm thinking that looking at the sizes and shapes of the plastic parts will help me figure out the paper parts.

If I may ask, NimitzFan, is the 26' Motor Whale Boat available anywhere?
As I mentioned, I had a 1/200 scale Fly Model USS Jaccard whose hull was badly damaged by my own lack of skill, and the use of Elmer's in Houston's high humidity. I also purchased a 1/200 USS Heerman model that on examination turned out to be misprinted - two copies of the same page while missing another sheet. Hence, I had more than one "spare" motor whale boat plus many USN parts. I got one of the last of Tom's Modelworks 1/200 scale photo-etch destroyer part sets for many of the other things I needed. (Sadly, "Tom" passed away about 18 months ago.)

NOTE that the Buships Measure 32 picture that B-Manic posted does not represent any Admirable class unit as built since none had the aft 3" gun. It does show the general plan for the class in measure 32. But don't stick to the plan because nearly all such painting was done by ship's force and some divergence from the plan was actually encouraged. The US Navy knew that rigid compliance to disruptive cammo patterns could simplify identification by the enemy. They were strict with some other measures, but not disruptive ones.

I built the Lindberg kit many, many, many years ago. It's roughly 1/125 scale. However, there are many elements of the model that are not to scale.

Well, a little one for a couple of warship kits. :D But, if there's interest, I might be willing to do a large scale one...maybe in 1/72 or 1/48?
