I have to confess, that I love JSC Models in 1:400 scale. Especially the new editions with lasercut parts are awesome pretty and detailed models.

I share your love of JSC models, and agree, they have improved quite a bit over the years.

This is an outstanding build of this kit, and a marvelously realistic display, making great use of the waterline aspect of this kit. I do wish you would tell us how you created this very attractive base, which nicely displays an already wonderfully built model.

Here´s a short explanation how I did the sea surface for the display. The method is a good one for Beginners. There are a lot of possebilities to do such a job in a professionel manner, but this one gives you a quick and handsome result.

1) The equipement you need for it. Some strong cardboard, Silicon, Acrylic Paint (Black, White, Blue), a brush, the base is a 10mm polystyrene plate and some household goods.

2) I started with drawing the outline of the waterline models on strong cardboard (1.7mm)

3) I cut them out, using them now as a template.

4) The templates were placed on the polystyrene base and I again marked the outline on the base.

5) After this, I removed the templates and started colouring te base with deep blue colour. The surface around the ships hulls and the area behind the ships was painted in a light blue colour.

6) Now, I placed again the templates on the base and started to fill up the base with a silicon layer - not centimeters, just a thin layer is quite enough. I worked out the waves and the sea around the templates with a spoon (use some olive oil on the spoon).

7) Next step is to drybrush with white colour. Than cut out the templates out of the silicon.

8) Finally, I placed the models in their cutout section. Add some silicon where the gaps seems to wide.

That´s it.
