Hms Repulse, Gremir, 1:200
Hi folks,
back in 2006 I built Gremir`s Repulse and it turned out to be a really nice model. I had some problems with the hull, resulting from the mass of sections to fix. This owed to the size of the sheets, where it had to be printed on. After a lot of fillings and grinding the hull was finally air brushed. For printing I used a standard HP ink printer. Before working with the sheets they were sealed with Revell matt (dull) color. I used standard photo etched parts for railing, ladders, barrels are ready made. The rafts are made from isolated wire, paddles are laser cut. After the difficulties with the hull are overcome, the rest of the building was fun. CU Hans Gerd |

It's a beautiful model, Hans Gerd. All your models are magnificent and this one captures the imposing look of the Repulse perfectly. Your attention to detail is most remarkable. The little Walrus flying boat looks absolutely real.
The ship appears to be in its final color scheme -- the one it was wearing when sunk off the east coat of Malaya. There is a painting of this by Iain Wyllie on the cover of the Osprey book, Mitsubishi Type 1 Rikko 'Betty' Units of World War 2 by Osamu Tagaya: http://www.ospreypublishing.com/titl...=S082X~ser=COM (I can't resist adding that the aircraft shown flying over the Repulse is Tail Number K-310 of the Kanoya Naval Air Group, 22d Air Flotilla flying from their base near Saigon in what was then French Indo-China [Vietnam]).
