Hello Klaus,
Your ability to hand-make these parts is great! They achieve a very high level of authenticity. Can you tell us, what kind of material did you use? Regards, Mike |

Hallo Michael,
I'll try to answer your question about the material: - its a simple COTS product : cotton yarn; manufacturer : Gutermann, Type C Ne 50, black and gray; i believe its called "mercerized yarn". - the yarn (cut a piece of one metre, typically) is then immersed (two times) with a mixture of "Ponal Express" and water (50:50), I usually saturize the water with the corresponding colour of the yarn to avoid the pale finish when its dry. - put one clothespin on one end and fix it at the ceiling lamp with a second clothespin - let it dry under gravity stress. After five to eight hours drying time the "product" can be used for railings, antennas or whatever its good for. @Wilfried : dont stop breathing ... Regards Klaus |

Thank you Klaus.
I thought it might be some type of thread, but you did such a good job, I could not tell. Mike |

Good evening folks, time for an update,
I wish you all the best for 2012 - and a big thank you for your attendance and comments in my report - even if it lacks of more detailed information and textual descriptions - but I think I'll be here more often than I was before. The big reflector of the 3D radar is now complete - I added the multifeed pipe and the waveguide as can be seen in the first slide. The upper mounting post, n * 2 Pi slewable, is assembled - added some details, is depicted in slide 2. Slide 3 gives an overview of the radar ensemble. But I will continue with the superstructure before final assembly. regards Klaus @Mike : I think - no - I'm sure that you can do it - just have a try |

Hallo again, sorry, I'm late with an update, but .....
Jim, Michael - thank you for your encouraging comments - that makes me feel welcome here in the US community. In the meantime I'm now forced to finalize some parts of the superstructure - e.g. I have to fix them with glue on the deck (sigh). Next step was to fix the torpedo launchers, followed by the lower part of the command and control center. By the way, WAK has published the CA25 in 1:200 - at first glance the kit looks very nice. Hallo, here comes the next update,
it's the last part of the first layer (main deck) of the superstructure. I thought I could do it on a rainy friday afternoon - well - I dont think it will rain tomorrow . The construction seems a little bit weird but was really easy to assemble. Again, added several parts (blue box indicators) which were only printed. The ship becomes more and more complete - but have a look at the slides. @Michael - thanks, you know I'm always fishing for compliments regards from Klaus |
