Project 956 class destroyer 1:250 build report

Hallo, to whom it may concern

The task :
- re-scale a (detailed ?) 1:200 kit to 1:250
- retouching of auxiliary lines (a real ship doesnt have them either)
- improve "weird" constructions
- add details whenever possible/applicable

If a presentation of the original issue of the model kit is desired, please raise your hand (its for free).

I will start with some pictures of the hull - this part is straight forward and easy to implement - no real challenge.
Questions, remarks, critics and comments are welcome.
CU again ?
KM

A very nice project, KM!

You've done a superb job thus far on the hull, and looking forward to your further updates.

Cheers!
Jim

Hallo again,

Jim, I'm pleased to see you here in this thread. I hope its not too boring for you.

Next steps are depicted in the series of pictures in the attachment.
Knowing the weakness of kits like this, it was easy to avoid the trouble of a shell plate which is too short. I have my own technique to install the shell plate step by step - beginning from the stern - mid section and finally the bow. The individual sections all have an overlap which is then removed by a single cut.
I have modified the hull number from 431 ( ship name "sovremenny") to 343 ("ship name is still undefined - any ideas ?).
regards
Klaus

Greetings, Klaus!

Boring? No Way!!

I am really enjoying this thread, keep at it.

343?? Well, if you made that 434 you could call her Admiral Ushakov.:D

I really like the many photos showing the sequence and modifications, very instructional!
I think your use of the word "Starport" is meant to be "starboard"? I might also suggest that you use the term "hawsepipe" for that opening in the bow where the anchor chain runs out to the anchor.

Keep at it, mate!

Cheers!
Jim

Hallo again,

Jim, starboard is the correct term - I'm stupid. There are a lot of specific terms I dont know since I'm not a native speaker of your language - so I'm using leo.org translator - and best match theorem. So please correct me if I'm using the wrong words - I have to learn.

Strk, I put your proposal on top of the list, thank you. I bet, UK people get mad.
Barry, please be patient - it may take time until I get there.
Wilfried, havnt you had your pill today ?

Before I will continue with the superstructure, a feasibility test for the tiny monsters has to be done. If I fail in a early build phase I havn't wasted too much of my time.
Today I will show the result of the first system : Air defence, comprising of 2 launchers for SA-N 7 and the dedicated FCS Front Dome.
Build steps are given as usual in the attachment.
Regards
Klaus

Pretty good, but Your 9M317 missile looks almost like AGM-84 Harpoon.

Compare with this pic:
