I've been following this with great interest, but I seem to have missed something. I was wondering how the railings were done. Are they paper, photoetch, or something else, and did they come with the kit?
Anyway, great build!

The railings and stairs come as a separate lasercut detailset. They are very fragile, and need to be removed first and then painted before they can be placed on the model.

Rick: it's an intimidating model at first due to the sheer size, number of sheets and parts, but after a while you get a bit more overview. And as with any high-quality kit it's pure fun to see all the details take shape in your hands.

Here's a difficult bit: placing the lifeboats with rigging on the davits:

It's only too bad I couldn't put a bit more strain on the thread, otherwise I would have bent the davits too much.

Thank you all! This leaves me with the fittings on the bow and stern, the cranes, the benches and the rigging. Next will be the bow, and the details on the forecastle. Here are the smaller bollards, which will also go on the stern. I also made the capstans, orginally in black as in the kit, but they were bronze on Titanic.

Hello Marco!
The details are made really great. This kind of work needs a lot of patience, but these small parts give the model beautiful look. You have my admiration!
Kind regards and a lot of enjoyment during the work!

Superb work Marco ! Thread is difficult to tension, all the more so with flimsy paper parts. One alternative is to use thin wire, which can straightened (by rolling it under a steel ruler on a flat surface) and will give a better 'tensioned" look.

I'm not sure if there is such a shop in your current part of the world, but the fly-tying corner of fishing shops is a great source for very fine wires.

Hubert.
