Indonesian Sigma Class Corvette KRI DIPONEGORO

Hi all,

I almost finished building my model of the KRI Diponegoro, an Indonesian corvette built in 2006 by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (see picture).

The ship was commissioned in June 2007. The ship has three other sisterships:
KRI Hasanuddin, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda and KRI Frans Kaisiepo.
KRI stands for Kapal Republik Indonesia = ship of the republic of Indonesia.

The Sigma corvettes serve as patrol vessels. A particular task will be found in law enforcement and engagement of piracy in the Indonesian waters.

The model is in scale 1:200 and consists of about 180 parts. It can be made as a full hull model or as a waterline model. My model is almost finshed. I still need to put on some small parts like the Mistral Tetral anit air missiles on top of the bridge and some small deck parts. I didn't make the full hull model as I was planning to make a small diorama with the ship on patrol mission between some Indonesian fishing boats. I am also still looking for a 1:200 scale model of a Blohm & Voss helicopter to be build to put on the helicopterdeck. Maybe anyone can help me out?

Enclosed some pictures of my KRI Diponegoro.Indonesian Sigma Class Corvette KRI DIPONEGORO-img_0018.jpgIndonesian Sigma Class Corvette KRI DIPONEGORO-img_0019.jpgIndonesian Sigma Class Corvette KRI DIPONEGORO-img_0021.jpgIndonesian Sigma Class Corvette KRI DIPONEGORO-img_0022.jpg

Greetings

Ron

Interesting build.

But, is there any person in the Netherlands who has some info on De Zeven Prov. class? Some unlcass drawings?
I'm looking for this since the beginning of Nansen project, but no luck...

Hello Ron,
Could this be the first "Indonesian" vessel featured in this forum?
Wonderful to see and nice work!

Hey, that's a nice looking ship, and model too. Hmm... I never build a ship model yet.... where can I get my hand on one?

Man, if I was a pirate and saw that coming towards me, I'd have to change my undies! She is a very sleek and aggressive looking ship.

These countries stepping up to the plate to stop these pirates is a great thing.

Beautiful model!

I believe this is one of the Scaldis models, which you can see here:
scaldis/veritas

Not sure how one orders it, or if there are other online shops that offer this model. Seems to be a dearth of paper model supply houses today, seems we have lost three or more over the last five years or so, sadly.

Cheers!
Jim

Thanks all for the interest in my thread. There are a number of you asking where they can buy the model. You should try to look at the following site:http://www.zeistbouwplaten.nl Just go to info & contact at the bottom of the page and send them an e-mail you're interested in buying the model of the indonesian sigma corvette. They also take orders from abroad.

Greetings,

Ron
