Hi Wilfried, thanks for the note, there hasn't been any progress on her lately because all my free time has been consumed by a commission of sorts for a friend. I'll be starting a thread on that shortly. I really want to get back to the buoy tender, and I *hope* to be able to do that this week, we shall see.

Take care,

I printed out Blackberry with every good intention, but got caught up in work and so it languishes. But I, too, look forward to seeing more on these projects when and if you get time, Avery.

Well, contrary to my statement in another thread, I have managed to put some work in on White Holly. I got the davits on the starboard side designed. Still a lot of fiddly bits to add to the mast and pilot house roof, but the davits were a pretty big hurdle.

Excellent! I'm glad to see that you are still making progress on this buoy tender.

It's good to see you back in this thread with some new stuff. By the way, Avery, how do you unfold all these curvy surfaces? It must be a real pain with unfold plugin.

Hi Kaz, good to hear from you my friend. Yes, it was a real pain up until recently. Then I uncovered "Flattery" which is a much superior unfold plug in for Sketchup. While it's still tedious, as one has to unfold each face individually it has eliminated most of the problems of the unfold plug-in such as the dreaded mismatched faces. I still hope to finish my tutorial for designing in sketchup someday. For now, I am distracted by other things which I hope to reveal soon, once details are finalized.

A better Sketchup unfolder

Hello Avery, Thanks for a quick reply. I've noticed that thread about "Flattery" and I have it installed, but it doesn't seem to work with more difficult shapes (SketchUp crashes). I guess, I'm doing something wrong, but unfortuantely, I have no idea what.

Hi Kaz, not sure but that does happen sometimes. For me, it seems to happen most often if I have a component (like a gun turret or something) and am trying to unfold it to the group created by Flattery. What version of Sketchup are you running?

Unfortunately, no updates on White Holly. I have something quite special which should show up on the forum soon, a preview of which has already been posted...

I noticed you said you have discovered "Flattery", it is something I cannot do without. Relieves much pressure!

I am almost done modeling your Pearson Triton Hull!! Were you planning to model her? If so, let me know, I could give you the Hull, if not, I will continue.
