and have been been made into PDF's. The cereal box models I remember when
as a youngster I used to assemble them. The one link he provides for for
the original Patent pulls up a blank page.....Ron

As I read it, that disclaimer only applies to the Wheaties line of models, not the Rigby ones. At least one of the books listed here (Models of the Fighting Planes of the United Nations 1942) was restored and rereleased in 1995 by Fly'n Things, led by Phil Koopman Sr. Some of the individual models seem to be been released by his son here: Fly'N Things -- Amazing Paper Airplanes

JSC makes one that is 31" long. You can view it at PMI"s site.
PaperModels.net It's on page 53 of the catalog.
Sadly though it is not in stock. It's listed price is $19.95
The scale however is 1:400

Many thanks for all the information and links. Looking at the available kits, it looks like the JSC is the best bet for me. The wilhelmshaven kit, as nice as it is (and as much as I love Wilhelmshaven kits) is just out of my price range right now. I'm still not sure, I may try my hand at designing my own version.

There is also the Micromodel SS United States, about 15 cm long, occasionally found on eBay, where it recently sold for $9.51. (eBay # 180616497085) Nice but VERY SMALL.

Apparently the patents have been renewed according to the Fly'N Things
website listed above. So the Rigby models that are listed are illegal. Ron

There is also a waterline model by Emsco from the 1950's, which is a nice and fairly well detailed model in 1 : 400. A replica is sold by Zeist Bouwplaten, google it.

What a wonderful idea for a design project, this should result in a very beautiful ship. I always loved her lines and very much look forward to seeing this one come to life under your outstanding and creative guidance.

I started the Micromodel version, pic below, but got side-tracked with other projects...got to finish her up some day, just need to add a few life boats and davit!

The EMSCO reproduction is a new one to me (I believe they indicate it is 1:300 scale), but have never seen a picture of what she looks like finished.

Whatever you decide, Avery, I look forward to seeing how it come out as I KNOW it's going to be brilliant!
