2 1/350 27c's from scratch

both are being build at the same time. one for a client USS Oriskany 1969 Vietnam. the other for myself USS Hancock 1969 Vietnam.

well the hard part to Oriskany has been done.the bow with the bridle horns is finish,just need a little clean up. the customer ship comes first,but no worries Hancock is still on track.

Interesting. The hull must be a bit tricky to work. The sides seem a bit wide to mold the complex curves and would seem a bit weak for such a long model. However, you've done it quite a few times so somehow it works for you. You've done some excellent work on your carriers. Obviously, they are your passion.

Thanks Greg, yes carriers are my main thing dd's and cg's are next. it really was not that hard since i already had a template of the bow. the sides of the hull have to be 3/8 wider because of the angle flightdeck and larger island. and everything is strong four layers of papercard on the hull with Elmer's glue all. i even threw the hull down on concrete to see how strong it was. pass the test.

Holy cr@p!! The hulls look great and that being a must means you're off to a great start! 2 at a time, wow!

I will watch this with interest. I made a far east cruise on the
Hancock in the Vietnam era while attached to an air group....Ron

Hey Ron,that is great. any feedback from you and other fellow Hanna crewmembers is fine by me.

both bows are on. that was a little tricky,but it is done. just have to lay on 3 sheets of copy paper on both hulls and add two coats of grey primer. and that should take care of the none detail hulls.

Question: So the sheets of copy paper are used to smooth out rough edges?

yes sir. it also lets me put small dents in the hull like the real thing.
