Schreiber-Bogen, Harbour tug “Bulldog”
My latest build thread: Schreiber-Bogen, Harbour tug “Bulldog” 1:100 scale
Five pages of parts and three pages of instructions one in German the other English with a single page of build drawings in five sections Once complete the model is 28cm long, 7cm wide and 21 cm tall. Schreiber rate this kit on a scale of 0 to 3 with a difficulty rating of two. The standard of printing with this kit seems very high with reverse printing where required. For it’s scale this is a simple kit and there is great scope for up-grading and improving this kit. Such as adding hand-rails and ladders. None of this I am planning to do. This will be a straight build using only the parts supplied. Tim |

First stage in the building process. Separating out the parts that need laminating to 1mm card. Helpfully Schreiber include such card with their kits. Only one piece though.
The next stage is something card modellers all seem to agree on. Using 3M Spray Mount to stick these parts onto thicker card. I’ve tried using other methods; PVA glue and glue sticks. All with the same tragic results. Didn’t even bother weighing the card down with heavy books, to keep the laminations flat. Left them overnight then cut out the major frames and glue together. Didn’t take long, they aren’t many. Managed to cut a slot the wrong side of the main center frame. Nessessitating a small repair. The photos give you an idea of the size of this model. Tim |

I think, the Schreiber tug is a nice one to smell into the tug business; the framework looks solid ...

After drying out from last nights work - Spent the day fitting the lower hull plates to the tugboat.
Although there are only five plates, they have to cover quite a large area. Coloured the white edges with a red felt-tip, then formed the plates to shape. Started off by glueing the plate to the centerline first then each side in turn. Not much glueing involved, but plenty of test fitting. I think the thing that really help was taking my time and not rushing things. Next stage, rest of the hull. Tim |

The major hull plates are now fitted. Only four parts, but they did benefit from test-fitting and bit of jiggling whilst the glue was drying.
The small mounting base also comes with the kit – needs a name plate though. Again all edges were treated with a felt-tip pen of the appropriate colour. Tim |

Final fitment of the hull extras. Such as hand rails, rubbing boards and the bow and keel boards.
The rudder and propeller area came as one unit. This I separated into three, thought it would build up better. Again, all edging was done using felt-tip pens. Tim |
