Hi Jake,
Excellent workmanship all around on your Nagatsuki. She came out looking quite grand. Makes me want to get back to work on mine.

Little update
Hello,
I added anti-aircraft guns and cables which connect the command tower and the rigging from the front mast. Enjoy. Jake |

I really like your build! I might have missed this, but how did you get the "non-skid" deck plate on your model? (The area at the bow shows this well) The raised shapes are printed on my model and if I repaint, I will loose the detail. You mentioned engraving the deck, how did you do that as the detail can still be seen with the repaint-thanks so much!

This is very impressive work. That spider web of halyards, braces, and lines is incredible in its precision and accuracy. The entire model is first rate.

When I have it printed I take a small screwdriver, I put it's "sharp" end on every black point of the deck and I extrude it. That is why I had to do a mirror image because when I turn my deck around it is engraved on the right side. It is time-consuming work but the effect is great. In the first photo below I present you the deck which is ready for engraving (after mirror image, contrast adjusting and deleting the colour so only the black short lines are visible). As for the second part of your question, for the non-skid deck at the bow I used....an old pyjamas. I was wandering how to do it because the engraving near the anchor chains is tinier than the rest of the deck (the second photo). So, by an accident, I noticed that a thin fabric is great for it. So I cut out the shape and painted it. I hope it will be helpful. Jake |

Jake- I can see where it is time consuming, but very much worth the effort! Following your progress is making me feel better about trying more and new techniques and it is also helping me move to completion of my IJN AMAGIRI. (Although, I must admit, I still would love to find a good source of Japanese turrets and torpedo mounts in 1:100 scale...) I appreciate the response and the great tips, really learning lots from all of your efforts, thanks again!
