U-Don Los Angeles
Has anyone built the SSN Los Angeles from U-Don? I downloaded it but when I go to print it show the page to be 20"X29". Model is listed as 1/144 scale. Don't know why it's showing it so large.....Rich

Just downloaded it. Yip, native file size is scaled for A2!
A2 = 2xA3 or 4xA4. It's a really big model. |

Is that to keep large parts in one piece?
You will have to resize, or tile the pages.

As I also am planning to try and build this one, I checked the prints; the filenames are in better order, I guess U-don changed something in the lay out, perhaps found stuff redundant or obsolete and dismissed a page. The page names on the prints is therefore different from the filenames.
And as far as printing goes: my Mac/Brother combination automatically shows it sized to 36% on an A4 (which, if I am correct, also fits a standard Letter sized sheet) and after printing it measures up with the scale indicators on the sheet. 1cm on the sheet = 1cm on my ruler. So the size also is correct. But man, this is one BIG submarine! I guess I'll downscale it a little... |

A4 is slightly longer than US letter size, but will print fine on US legal size paper. One reason why I prefer Wausau Exact Index is that I can get 90 lb weight in both sizes at my local Kelly Paper store.
UDon always uses oversized files, and I have to fiddle around with print settings to match the scale indicators. 36% sounds about right, as I recall. And yes, this is one big black and red baseball bat when completed in 1:144 scale. I finally gave mine away because I had no place to display it and was always afraid of damaging the small parts in transit. But it's a nice build, and should still work well in a reduced 1:200 or 1:250 scale. Good luck with your model. David T. Okamura |

I actually started that one today and the large page size is because of resolution (only 75 dpi) if you fit to page it comes out at (roughly) the proper scale. I did fit to page printing to a pdf and then reduced that to 72% (The ratio to get 1/200 from 1/144) and I just finished the hull and my admittedly rough measurement put it at about 1/203
