Yeah, yeah...cue the snare drum, Jon......ba doom!
Funny how things get turned around depending on whose account is being read: she was originally named BAT when built in 1864, got caught enroute to Wilmington, NC, on 10 October 1864, re-named and commissioned by the North as USS BAT in December 1864, and wasn't named TEAZER until she went into merchant service 1865-1872, which makes me wonder why the famous photo taken of her laying at anchor off of Fort Monroe, Virginia, in 1864 says she was named "TEASER" (which is a mis-spelling of her eventual name) rather than BAT. Tell you what, I still love her rakish lines, she just looks real fast...whether or not she was is not clear, but perhaps not given she was captured so quickly.... Always love to read the story behind the ship and model! Love your work on this, Joe, and so very happy this model is being kept alive and available by Models n' Moore...good job, guys! Cheers!
