Nice Build

This is looking really good Carl. I'm even more impressed with your design and build skills now that I've realisised what size your models are.

While I was reading your Hoche thread, I thought they were much larger. But now I see the photographs with pens in the frame I realise how small they are and what a fantastic level of detail you've managed to include at that size.

Awesome!! Absolutely Awesome... You are the daddy!!!

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

I continue with the design and build... Aside from the usual problem of designing the hull sides so that they simply fit together correctly and with severe tumblehome, this ship presents the challenge of mounting side guns in turrets that fit into cutouts in the hull sides. Oh, and of course we want all the turrets to turn, right? Hmm. Well, I'm proceeding slowly on that front while I plan how to make it work.

In the first picture I show the partial decks at stern and bow interlocking with the frames. This is so that I can run the deck color past the edge line in case a builder needs a little fudge room. It also shows how I've put in a secondary frame behind the hull side to give support and a place to glue to when the hull side is attached. The center turret base is that cylinder there.

In the second picture I've loosely stuffed everything together to give an impression of the ship. By the way, the square ports in the hull side are not to be edge colored. They are white edged in the photos! I think that I may need to draw them a little larger than they really were in order to give the correct impression of their effect on the appearance of the sides.

I really like the fact that you are designing this as a "builder's" model. You are applying lessons learned from your vast building experience - something that some of the "professional" designers don't seem to do. I still want a lifetime subscription to the "Golden Bear Models" series as well as the "Brown Water Navy" series by you know who (no, not Lord Voldemort).

Hey Ron, thanks. That is part of what is slowing me down right now. I'm trying to take care to update everything as I test the build so that I'll be able to turn it into a buildable kit almost immediately after finishing. We'll see how THAT idea turns out.
