Definitely yes. If You are able to cut the parts enough precisely, fit is "automatic" - errors will not occur.

Will this be your recommended method for putting the framework together when the kit is released?

Thanks,

Again - definitely yes, but the sequence is critical. I regret I didint take more pictures, but the words can explain, I think.
After building "above WL" part of the framework, modeler must glue the WaterLine element (this element joins both framework halves - upper and lower - and gives necessary rigidity, preventing the framework from warping). WaterLine element consist of three elements - they are to be glued into one large part and then - glued to the "above WL" part of the framework.
"under WL" part of the framework (three sections) can be glued separately:
as first fore section, second - aft section, and between them: mid section.

I imagine if someone was able to make a hardened punch and dye to pop out those slots,, this could make for a very interesting methodology. Of course, you models are so right on the money, you could just have easily made them without them. This model will be exceptionally strong though, and I think will resist warping due to the almost monocoque style structure.

Hi all,

I found this report on the Internet and just because I signed the same time in this great forum.

If this model is made even finished?

I've already bought the Heyerdal of "strk" and am thrilled with the accuracy of this model.

best regards
Lindie

Gents, bad news.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel this project, due to lack of free time and amount of works necessary to finish it at satisfactory level in scale 1/200. All already built parts has been scrapped, and the digital model will be downscaled to 1/400 which is going to be my primary area of interest (less details and effort necessary to complete the build),

I'm sorry, but such an extensive project is just beyond possibilities of a single man (job, wife, child, dog).

@Eric The Sputnikk: I can not send u a PM, so my answer to your question is above.

That is too bad. I was really hoping that I could build this ship someday. I could help if you need it, or would want it. I would not mind taking a crack at it. You have the hard part done already with the hull. The structure would be a little easier with the 10° angles.

Sorry I am new. I dont think I have the privileges yet.

That is indeed too bad. Some projects can become overwhelming
I myself scrapped a fully built, 1:32 U-Boat hull. However, just as you plan to restart at 1:400, I restarted at 1:48 and am much happier and have gone farther with it.

Good luck and we'll look forward o your next iteration of it.

Sorry I am new. I dont think I have the privileges yet.
Except hull framework, exhaust stacks and fore superstructure lower deck (as seen on the previous pictures), nothing more is done (I mean unrolled, prepared to print and so on).
What is the worst, the digital 3D model is still not completed, and does not differ much from this stage:
