Hafen Diorama Hamburg 1930
Hi Guys and thanks for the warm welcome.
I've just finished the HMV Hafen-diorama and thought I would post it into the community. More than anything this one needs stamina! Five smaller models in one, even the engine on the quay side taxed my patience. So if anyone else out there is 'at it' or thinking of giving it a go maybe this picture may help you along. Some brief thoughts : I used the photo-etched sheet because I can't yet get a good tension in rigging I decided to have the load snapping, so it didn't matter I used timber rather than the barrels in the kit because a match box was close to hand The sea foam was simply white glue painted white after it had dried It's full of mistakes and I'll keep on trying till I finisih one that is error-free - some chance Mikbew |

That is awesome! I like how you cut out all those tiny people, it really brings it to life!

Very well staged. Evidence that building a model is one thing but putting it in a scene is a whole different scenario.

Hafen Diorama
Thanks for the positive responses.
The scale was 1:250 and the figures were from those nice guys at Papershipwright, courtesy of Michael Kaintoch. If anyone has any links to 1:250 scale figures I'd like to know. They can make a difference and although I figure that in this scale 2D isn't really a problem and they do 'look OK, it would be nice to find some. Seems to me that if they're not out there, and I've spent a lot of time looking, there is a growing market. Mikbew |

Hello Mikbew,
Thanks for posting this, it looks great! Here are some more figures, there is a link on the left for paper people. http://home.mindspring.com/~carapace/ I printed some out a while back, and if I remember right I had to play around with the scaling to get them the right size. Also, they aren't quite as detailed as the Paper Shipwright ones...
